Painted Stones

The Community Art Project for 2024 resulted in a 15 foot long  ‘Artistic Plinth’, which was created by over 30 volunteer artists, ranging in ages from 8-15 years and above, and all from the wider Rathmullan community.   The popular twice-weekly painting workshops took place during July and August at the Boat House Sheds, by kind permission of Scarpello & Co. They were led by the hugely talented Ukrainian Artist Hanna Pidkliuk, currently living in Buncrana, and ably assisted by Cassie Lyons, Che Ruddock and Caoimhe Stones, also from Buncrana.  This project would not have been possible without the ongoing support of the Donegal Volunteer Centre. The official unveiling took place on Friday 13th September with many of the artists, family and friends in attendance. It is envisaged to create a similar feature  in Buncrana in the near future, thereby connecting our two communities as we all work together interacting with all age groups.

We are indebted to Lough Swilly Ferry and M/s Murphy Contractors for their invaluable assistance with this Project.
